Private Transfer from Rijeka Airport to Istria
Chauffeur-driven private transfers from Rijeka Airport (RJK) on the island of Krk to Ikador, Grand Park Hotel, Meneghetti, Kempinski and all resorts, villas and private addresses across Opatija, Rovinj, Poreč, Pula and the Istrian peninsula. The closest airport to the Kvarner Riviera, and entirely within Croatia.
Your Direct Private Transfer from Rijeka Airport (RJK) to Istria
Rijeka Airport is not in Rijeka. It sits on the island of Krk, near the small town of Omišalj, connected to the mainland by the Krk Bridge. Guests arriving here for the first time occasionally expect the city and find a compact regional terminal on an island instead. The terminal is small and simple to navigate, baggage claim is quick, and exit to the car is faster than at any other airport in the region. There are no multiple halls, no long transfer bus rides to reach the gate, and no layered departures creating crowds in arrivals.
Your driver will be waiting in the arrivals hall with a personalised sign bearing your name. Flight tracking begins before you land. If your arrival time shifts, the driver has already adjusted. Luggage is handled from the moment you walk through the doors.

The Signature Drive into Istria
Leaving the airport, the route crosses the Krk Bridge from the island onto the Croatian mainland. The bridge is two kilometres long and carries the road over the Kvarner Bay on two arched spans. Most guests notice it. The crossing takes a few minutes and the view south across the bay toward the other Kvarner islands is one of the better moments of any Istrian arrival journey.
On the mainland, the coastal road south runs through Kraljevica and along the Kvarner Riviera toward Opatija, with the Učka mountain range rising steeply to the east. Guests staying at Ikador Luxury Boutique Hotel in Ika arrive before the motorway junction, on the waterfront road through the small village directly. For guests continuing into Istria, the A8 motorway begins near Matulji and crosses the peninsula heading south and west. The entire route stays within Croatia. There are no border crossings and no passport checks.
Rovinj is approximately one hour twenty minutes from the airport under normal conditions. Grand Park Hotel and Monte Mulini are reached at the lower harbour entrance on the south side of town. Meneghetti Wine Hotel in Bale follows the coast road south from Poreč, the estate at the end of an unmarked lane. Kempinski Hotel Adriatic in Savudrija is approximately one hour thirty minutes northwest of the motorway junction, the golf club visible on the right as the hotel comes into view.
All vehicles have Wi-Fi and device charging. Water is on board. The drive starts as soon as you are settled.
Continuing to your hotel? We arrange transfers to Istria's leading hotels, plus experiences like a private tour of Grožnjan.
This is a private transfer. There are no other passengers, no fixed group departure times, and no waiting for a coach to fill. The vehicle leaves when you are ready.

Make Your Rijeka to Istria Transfer a Part of the Experience
Rijeka Airport's bus connects to Rijeka city and Omišalj on Krk. Neither takes you to Istria. A private Bel'Istria transfer goes directly from arrivals to your hotel door. Here is what that makes possible.
The closest airport to Opatija and the Kvarner Riviera
For guests staying at Ikador Luxury Boutique Hotel in Ika or anywhere along the Opatija Riviera, Rijeka Airport is the most convenient entry point. No other airport comes close on distance. Guests arriving for Kvarner who also want to spend time in Istria during their stay can book both legs with Bel'Istria. The transfer down to Rovinj, Poreč or Pula is one hour twenty to one hour thirty minutes from the hotel, easy to arrange the evening before.
No borders. Entirely within Croatia
Like the Zagreb route, the entire journey from Rijeka Airport to any point in Istria or on the Kvarner coast stays within Croatia. There are no passport checks and no spot checks. For guests who have already cleared border formalities on arrival, the drive south is a clean, uninterrupted run.
Local knowledge that is not in any guidebook
Bel'Istria drivers know Istria year-round and cover the Kvarner corridor every season. They know the waterfront approach to Ikador in Ika, the unmarked lane at Meneghetti, and which entrance Grand Park Hotel uses for arriving guests. The Krk Bridge crossing takes two minutes. What comes after takes local knowledge that no navigation app provides.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does the transfer from Rijeka Airport to Rovinj take?
Under normal conditions the drive from Rijeka Airport to Rovinj takes approximately one hour twenty minutes. The route crosses the Krk Bridge from the island to the mainland and continues south on the A8 motorway across the Istrian peninsula. The entire journey stays within Croatia with no border crossings. Transfers to Opatija and Ikador run shorter at around forty-five minutes. Pula and Medulin are approximately one hour fifteen to one hour thirty minutes. Summer traffic on Friday evenings and Saturday mornings on the Istrian coast can add time.
What happens if my flight is delayed?
Your flight is tracked from departure. If your arrival time changes, your driver adjusts accordingly. There is no additional charge for delays and no need to contact Bel'Istria unless your plans change significantly. Your driver will be in the arrivals hall when you land.
Are motorway tolls included in the price?
Yes. The price quoted at booking is the price you pay. All motorway tolls within Croatia including the Krk Bridge crossing, the A8 motorway and all applicable taxes are included. There are no surcharges added after the journey.
Does Rijeka Airport operate year-round?
Rijeka Airport operates year-round but most international routes are seasonal, running primarily from late spring through early autumn. Summer services include connections from the UK with easyJet and Ryanair, and from Germany, the Netherlands and other European markets with Eurowings and Transavia. Outside the summer season, scheduled international options are limited. For year-round connectivity to northern Istria and Opatija, Trieste and Ljubljana carry more reliable schedules.
