The Signature Drive into Istria
South from the airport, the road passes through pine forests and the rolling Slovenian countryside before the limestone landscape of the Karst plateau takes over. Postojna Cave sits right at the plateau's edge, directly off the main motorway — a natural stop that adds around two hours to the journey if guests want to go underground. For those continuing straight through, the Karst opens into views across the bay toward Trieste before the route drops into Croatia. Travel with your passport or EU national ID card — Slovenia currently operates occasional spot checks at the Croatian border.
Crossing into Istria from the north, the peninsula reveals itself from the inland side. The hilltop villages of Motovun, Grožnjan and Buzet sit visible on the ridgelines above the Mirna valley — the heart of Istrian truffle country — before the road descends toward the coast. Grand Park Hotel and Monte Mulini in Rovinj are approached from the inland side, arriving at the lower harbour entrance. Meneghetti Wine Hotel in Bale is reached through wine country south of Poreč, the estate at the end of an unmarked lane off the main road.
Continuing into Istria? We handle transfers to the region's leading hotels and can add a visit to the caves of the Istrian underground.
This is a private transfer. There are no other passengers, no fixed group departure times, and no waiting for a coach to fill. The vehicle leaves when you are ready.

Make Your Ljubljana to Istria Airport Transfer a Part of the Experience
The drive from Ljubljana to Istria crosses an entire country before reaching the coast. Here is what Bel'Istria can do with that journey that a scheduled shuttle cannot.
Stop at Postojna Cave — it is on the route
Postojna Cave is one of the most visited natural attractions in Europe and sits directly off the main motorway, around forty minutes south of the airport. A full visit takes around two hours. Bel'Istria can build the stop into the journey — the driver waits, the luggage stays in the car, and you continue to Istria when you are ready. No other airport transfer makes this as easy.
Coffee in Ljubljana if time allows
If you arrive early or want to see the city before heading south, Bel'Istria can take you into Ljubljana's old town for an hour. The riverside is a short drive from the airport and worth thirty minutes of anyone's time. The stop adds nothing meaningful to the overall journey and gives you a proper sense of where you have landed.
Local knowledge that is not in any guidebook
Bel'Istria drivers know northern Istria year-round. The truffle estates in the Mirna valley below Motovun, which road into Buzet avoids the Saturday morning market traffic, and where the inland approach to Grand Park Hotel saves ten minutes over the coast road. If you want a recommendation on the drive, ask. The answer will be specific.
